[SPEAKER_02]: I am your in dealing stirring host to Matt's Roca.

[SPEAKER_02]: As always, I'm joined by the button number Josh Roca.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, Matt, you ready for the World Baseball Classic this weekend?

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm actually really looking forward to it.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think so too.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited this year.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's not working.

[SPEAKER_01]: I was considering going down.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's going to work out this year.

[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm excited.

[SPEAKER_01]: It seems that it's like valuable like baseball that people care about.

[SPEAKER_01]: in Mark.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's great.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think when they first started several years ago, people really were kind of thinking this thing is this really going to work out during this training.

[SPEAKER_02]: But I was listening to Eva and I was listening to the GM, who was a list to it?

[SPEAKER_02]: It was the interview with one of the GMs.

[SPEAKER_02]: And even he was like, you know, I used to think this is bad for my players.

[SPEAKER_02]: But I realized this is really good for the game.

[SPEAKER_02]: So he was kind of changes my students.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think all the baseballs kind of realized this is good.

[SPEAKER_01]: And isn't what changed is that the major league players kind of excited about it.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think them caring about it is what then allowed it to progress over the years.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and he was, the GM was saying to like the road-based book-class, I guess, as a organization has gotten a lot better with communicating with major league teams in terms of like making sure their pitchers are on the schedule and you know, that their players are being used properly and if they have hitters, that they're getting enough of that.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I think, um, yeah, it's gotten better.

[SPEAKER_02]: I do wonder, Doug, Josh, how much longer

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, this thing being March, don't you think eventually they're going to move it to July and make a party all star break?

[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, I hope not.

[SPEAKER_01]: Who does that?

[SPEAKER_01]: Is it hockey?

[SPEAKER_01]: That does the hockey takes time off for the Olympics, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: And then the NBA takes time off for the Olympics as well.

[SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[SPEAKER_01]: So no.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, I actually think it's after the NBA season because it's, uh, it's a summer Olympics.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think basketball's done, but certainly hockey.

[SPEAKER_01]: No, you can't do that.

[SPEAKER_01]: You can't do it for baseball because baseball is all about momentum and that transition from July and the August is important for baseball.

[SPEAKER_01]: All right, but you're not going to let your best players go get hurt.

[SPEAKER_01]: in a world-based, well-classic game while you're heading for a playoff run.

[SPEAKER_02]: But don't think it's more likely to get hurt in March when you're all amped up, and you haven't even thrown five in and shot.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think, no, I think it's just as good of a chance, either time, because we all know these players work out year-round.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I'm not so you're not going to make your way down there.

[SPEAKER_02]: What about this, Josh.

[SPEAKER_02]: Have you thought about coming up to Atlanta next week, because The Hawks are doing a special promotional night where they're about this.

[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, it's been the news.

[SPEAKER_02]: What is it?

[SPEAKER_02]: It's a strip club night where they're recognizing the magic strip club in Atlanta.

[SPEAKER_02]: This cultural icon that is the strip club and they're having this whole magic strip club night.

[SPEAKER_03]: What?

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: Is it like a bubble head night?

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know the guy a famous rapper is going to go in there, I don't know what they're going to do.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm curious to see just out of curiosity standpoint, I might, you know, want to attend.

[SPEAKER_02]: We went to see the wizards when the wizards were in town. [SPEAKER_02]: at least, you know, the team wasn't there was not many players who were able to suit up for the winners or the fourth of my these days, but, uh, so yeah, it's just, it was funny, promotional night. [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, you want to get people out to the yards? [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, you know, maybe that's in the worst should consider. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's the, uh, yeah, what do you want to have the, the host of club night at Camden yards? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, we, we, we already have dipped our toes into the wire stuff. [SPEAKER_02]: We could go all in with, with some more wire night. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, I think the wire knight would be fun, but I don't, I don't know how you incorporate that, either. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But good on the Hawks, someone's got to try it first. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, pushing the envelope getting getting, you know, fans in the stands, you know, what I'm curious to know how this goes. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure I'm curious to see if it's the first one if it will go if they want to shut it down last second and how it goes. [SPEAKER_02]: So just makes me laugh. [SPEAKER_02]: I know we talked about promotions on here a lot. [SPEAKER_02]: So that's a. [SPEAKER_02]: That's a promotion. [SPEAKER_01]: Are they giving away something? [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, all they thought was going to have time show. [SPEAKER_02]: And I assume they'll have, I don't know. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what they have. [SPEAKER_01]: It looks like a magic city hoodie. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, they give way of hoodie, too. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe, or they're just selling a magic city hoodie. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, sometimes you do that special ticket package. [SPEAKER_02]: Could be that, too. [SPEAKER_02]: If you're by the special ticket package. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, we got some actual baseball to talk about today. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's how it's about being very funny cut. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk to everyone over hype in this guy for for at that. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for at bats for home runs. [SPEAKER_02]: This is like the Tyler and Neil open in day run. [SPEAKER_02]: This is pretty cool. [SPEAKER_01]: It's it's a weird run, but don't you think it's odd that like after two home runs or three home runs, they haven't said, we'll give you a second at bat. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, they asked, they asked, I'll be about it. [SPEAKER_02]: And he was like, you know, he's just here from Marley camp. [SPEAKER_02]: So we have a, he's in the Marley camp. [SPEAKER_02]: He's not on the major side. [SPEAKER_02]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: He's not. [SPEAKER_02]: So no chance of making the team. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: So he's just here when we, you know, need an extra body. [SPEAKER_02]: So he's got to continue just to be an extra body. [SPEAKER_02]: But well, we'll see, the pressure's on now. [SPEAKER_02]: Like once you get four, I just have to, well, it's home run or nothing at this point. [SPEAKER_01]: It is. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the Tyler O'Neill treatment. [SPEAKER_01]: That if Tyler O'Neill does not get a home run on open and day, it's a huge disappointment. [SPEAKER_01]: Huge disappointment. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And if he doesn't get injured on game two, also disappointment, right? [SPEAKER_02]: People have to live up to these high expectations we have of them. [SPEAKER_02]: But then it's handicapped interesting because he's been one of our most, I think he was dropped in 2024 first round [SPEAKER_02]: And it's been a one of our most disappointing prospects. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just been terrible in the miners. [SPEAKER_02]: So a hem of all people coming on fire. [SPEAKER_02]: You hope he can continue that momentum into his mind of the season, but like a so far as career has kind of been a bit of a dud. [SPEAKER_01]: And to this homeowner was like 470 or something. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not even like these are like wind blown fluke. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, yeah, the ball was crushed. [SPEAKER_02]: Now it's, it goes another mind of the picture. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's hard to tell, but in some of our time. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, he's he's fighting for a spot at double a now forget about the majors But it and to another example of and there's Plenty examples like this of you know, it's hard to to take away even just one of the stats It's hard to take away because all these situational things you don't know and there's I mean sport bats and you don't know who they're up against and all that stuff [SPEAKER_01]: I know, but he's still the leader for North Carolina University North Carolina with 65 career her months. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there was a reason he is a power a first round pick and they say super athletic. [SPEAKER_02]: But again, last year he batted 171 in single eyes. [SPEAKER_02]: And you know, that's not what we expect from a first round pick. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, um, bass pitch today, I don't know if you got to see any of that, and he looked pretty good, and it, but it, it's tough because I keep seeing our pitchers look really good, and that doesn't make sense mentally to me because we never have good pitchers. [SPEAKER_01]: And then it's spring train, and so I can easily convince myself, well, it's because it's they're going against the B squad. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's really, it's really hard because I watched, I've watched, [SPEAKER_01]: And I've listened to him and I watch him and it's amazing and so much fun to have baseball on in the background while I'm working, but I don't think any of this means anything. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like bat and practice. [SPEAKER_02]: Right, right. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, the best, the exciting part is the is the nine strikeouts and the five innings, like that gets excited, but the less exciting part is the four walks in the nine in the five innings. [SPEAKER_02]: But it's interesting. [SPEAKER_02]: I was I was doing a little bit of a deep dive Josh into these. [SPEAKER_02]: uh, zips projections, you know, you have these zips projections and the zips standings. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's just, you know, because I'm trying to figure out how do the words get to kind of where they're predicted to be at and why am I higher on some of our guys than maybe zips is. [SPEAKER_02]: And if you look at the pictures, it's rather right the picture. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like Zip's has this projected, I mean, Zip's has Trevor Rogers projected to have a 3.95 ERA to have just under a 4 ERA and I expect him to have a sub 2. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, maybe not a sub 2, but but certainly like I expect him to h
